About Wild West Wines & Spirits
Experience Wild West Wines & Spirits is a wine and spirit brokerage company that operates in the Intermountain States of Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and Utah. Having been in business since 1989 we have more fine wine expertise and distribution experience than any company (broker or otherwise) in our four state area. We conduct multiple trainings, classes, seminars, and wine dinners. The owners and staff that make up Wild West Wines have received many awards and much recognition throughout their careers by trade organizations as well as from regional and national press. We have visited virtually every wine producing region of the world, and have worked at every tier of this industry including retail (both national chain and independent), restaurant, distributor, broker, and supplier (both in winemaking and in sales).
Local Representation Unlike other brokerage companies that just push paperwork, we manage all distributors in all markets for our suppliers, we also work directly with the customers both on and off premise, independent and chain. Additionally where appropriate by law and/or product type we work directly with the government alcohol beverage commissions in each state. Our close and direct relationship with buyers creates pull through for the product, as well as giving each supplier a “local” representative for customers to know. It is these close relationships and our intimate knowledge of the universe of accounts that makes Wild West unique amongst brokers and more successful in working with distributors and state agencies to get more product sold.
Distribution Wild West has a portfolio that is appropriately sized and composed to serve each supplier. The size of the portfolio gives us strength in working with each distributor, as Wild West Wines (collectively) nearly always represents the largest, or one of the largest, suppliers for each distributor. Conversely, the portfolio is made up of boutique to medium sized wineries whose focus is quality. So being part of the portfolio strengthens each individual winery’s position in a market both quantitatively and qualitatively. Also, because we work with all distributors in all markets, our diversification means that all distribution options are open to our suppliers and can thus be placed in the best house for each supplier’s needs.
Cost Effective Working on commission means that the supplier’s costs are always proportionate to volume. All of the companies we work with have found it to be very cost effective. Given the size of the territory as well as the expense and time incurred for a company direct person to call on the market, few suppliers can manage the market effectively themselves and get an adequate return on their investment. Our markets are even more heavily saturated than the national market, and they need to be worked frequently and intensely to gain penetration. Simply, we can do that more cheaply and effectively than most suppliers can themselves.
